I am Dhanu. Literature and painting are my favorite pieces of art. I love to write and express my thoughts freely. I find writing therapeutic just as watching a river flow silently.

Writing is my obsession while teaching has always been my compassion. I love kids. I finished my TKT (Cambridge) exams last year and currently working on my Diploma in Special Education and Psychology.

The time I spent in Nebraska, USA, is the highlight of the 26 years that I have lived so far. I miss the people that I met and the corn fields behind my college. One day, I want to live in the country side and own a barn and continue my writing while travelling. I speak English, Sinhalese and Hindi. Currently, I work as an English Teacher in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Books are my best companions. I am bubbly and crazy (in a good way!). Depending on my mood, I am a mix of an introvert and an extrovert but I find it easier to talk/connect to people through writing.

If you can relate to my thoughts and find most of my writing familiar, I suppose we made a connection. Say Hello, I like feedback–good or bad. Write to me; dhanu.randika88@gmail.com. You can also leave me a message on my Facebook as well. Happy Writing and reading!

Some Random details about me!

I am 5’1.

I studied Business Administration at Northeast Community College in Nebraska, USA. I am currently studying Child Psychology and Child Counselling.

I am a die-hard fan of FRIENDS, the TV series. I love everything about FRIENDS TV series, the characters, the cast.. more than I will ever love another human being.

I can’t stand sour food.

Someday, I want to have a dog, a simple and cozy house and share my life with a person who will let me read my books in peace.

I indulge in novels, fiction, adventure stories and books about travelling –well, basically all kinds of books.

My dad is my hero. He has not only given me life but he has shown me what life is by living it the right way.

I love to dance.

But, I am a terrible singer—and that doesn’t mean I don’t sing often. 😀

I can be really talkative but depending on my mood I can be very very quiet.

I love to travel and explore.

My kind of perfect date is doing a shared activity or going on an adventure together.

I love pizza with every beat of my heart—it’s a match made in heaven.

      1. Most people (living in the US) never know how beautiful the great plains of the United States actually are. Bellevue is south of Omaha on the Missouri River.

  1. Are you my mysterious Sri Lankan visitor? Did you know that a month or more ago I wrote a poem to/about you and asked you to identify yourself? But, you didn’t look at my blog that day or for a long time afterwards. If it is you, I noticed that someone from Sri Lanka had viewed my blog at least twice after that, but by then the poem was buried in the bowels of my blog. If you haven’t read it, you can find it in the link I’ll send you in another post. At any rate, so happy to have you as an observer!! Judy

    1. I am sadly not the Sri Lankan visitor you are looking for. But, I hope you don’t give up trying to find him/her. 🙂 Thank you for following me back and I love your blog. 🙂 So happy to have you as an observer as well. 🙂 Take Care.

    1. Thank you for the lovely words! 🙂 I spent a few hours debating on addresses and then I finally settled with the “spilled thoughts and coffee”. It really appeals to me because most of my time are spent writing and drinking coffee. I hope you enjoy what I write and I appreciate all your feedback! 🙂

  2. Dhanu, I am just a fan of reading just the ‘About Me’ section. You seem like the coolest girl I have ever come across. I do have a tendency of going overboard with words but you can be assured they are a 100% genuine. I would like to hang around ‘spilledthoughtsandcoffee’. I know I’ll be happy here 🙂 So far just managed to read one article about the Coconut tree, loved that too 🙂 Sent you an email, hope u’ve got that when you open your email account. I just have so much to say..yes I am very talkative, I just need the right company 🙂 and I know of a certain somebody who is talkative too :p

  4. Hello Dhanu! A very neat ‘About’ section! 🙂
Nice to meet someone who lived in and misses Nebraska! I live in Omaha and cannot stress enough how much I love the place and the people here! 🙂
Looking forward for more reading of your work!!

    1. Hello! Thank you for dropping by and taking your time to comment. 🙂 It’s always a pleasure to hear someone say hello from Nebraska! I do miss living in Nebraska so much. The people were so welcoming for a foreign girl like me. The place was like my second home. I mostly lived in Norfolk area and once in a while I got to visit Omaha as well. 🙂 Someday, I hope to come and visit the place again. It’s so very nice to meet you. Please do keep in touch!

  5. Hi Dhanu, I’m enjoying reading your blog. 🌺 I’m an English teacher too and, as you’ve guessed from my blog name, I loooove coffee…well, and tea too. I really loved learning the traditional dances of my students. But sadly, I don’t have a barn either!! Hopefully we both will one day! 😊 Cheerios, CC
